Subject: CD disc cleaners
Good item to put on the list? Date: 1 Feb 91 From: Stuart Milligan <MILLIGAN@BROCK1P> Subject: CD disc cleaners To: Mailing List for the Music Library Association <MLA-L@IUBVM> In the most recent Radio Shack catalog is listed a product that cleans the optical lens in the compact disc player. It is a disc in itself. It is stock # 42-123 and lists for $14.95. Radio Shack also has a battery powered CD cleaner that cleans the disc. The stock # is 42-124 and it sells for $29.95. There are of course other companies with equal or better products on the market. My question is: Have these products been tested to be reliable for use with a large collection of discs and shown to be harmless to them over time? Has anyone been applying a particular cleaner to their discs? Preservationists, please jump in! *** Conservation DistList Instance 4:44 Distributed: Saturday, February 16, 1991 Message Id: cdl-4-44-005 ***Received on Wednesday, 6 February, 1991
