Subject: Sheet music
At Virginia Commonwealth University, we house all our sheet music in document preservation binders which are available from a number of vendors. University Products had the lowest price the last time we ordered. Looking at the current University Products Archival Quality Materials catalog, I see they offer 5 pre-cut sizes and special sizes on request. The design is simple: a pressboard binder with an expandable (to 1/4") inner folder that closes with flaps. Our music librarian feels very strongly that sheet music should not be bound. The binders provide the protection and stability we are looking for. They are constructed of acid-free, lignin-free stock and sit well on the shelf in Princeton files.
