Subject: Cataloging preservation microfilm on OCLC
The Library at the University of California, Davis, will be changing from RLIN to OCLC for its cataloging operations in October. Can anyone tell me what this will mean in terms of cataloging master negatives? I have heard \ that master negative information is considered "local" information on OCLC and is not available to users outside the institution doing the filming and cataloging. Is this true? Will I have any access to master negative information at other institutions via OCLC? And with RLG's changes, what will happen to the preservation information currently on-line on RLIN? What about future preservation information and RLG? Thanks very much for any assistance.
