Subject: Argon gas and albumen photographs
We'd like to pass on the following question we received from the historian at Yosemite National Park. Here at Davis we use argon gas for fumigation of books after bug infestation. The question as received was, would treatment with argon affect photographic processes, especially albumen prints tipped into 19th century publications? Also, are there any known or predictable effects on glues used in bindings or for photograph adhesion? Thanks very much for your help.
