Subject: New Ilford film
Ilford XP1 has been out for a number of years, and is being replaced by XP2. For the photographer, it is an extraordinary film, virtually grainless, especially in the mid tones. And why not? There's no grain. However, it is chromagenic, and is subject to the usual deterioration of C41 process images. Fortunately, it has not overrun the B&W market. There are many excellent silver films available, and they are more commonly used.
