ALA collection development meeting

The Collection Development Officers of Large Research Libraries
Discussion Group invites any interested observers to their meeting on
Saturday, January 25th, in the Fiesta Room E of the San Antonio
Convention Center.  George Farr of the National Endowment for the
Humanities will be the guest speaker.  He will be discussing a number of
issues including the interactions of local and national preservation
interests, the NEH view of the comprehensive approach to preservation
(according to which collections are preserved by treating damaged or
endangered items by the preservation method most suitable to each item),
and NEH's philosophy toward mass deacidification and digitization.  Mr.
Farr will be speaking from about 9-9:45 am.
