Erich Jacobs, our redoubtable intern, came upon the following in _Massachusetts Mercury, Friday, October 11, 1799, Vol XIV, No. 20. Austin is, btw, mentioned once in Hunter, citing his patent, but there is no further information. Information to Paper Makers. The Subscriber having obtained Letters Patent from under the Seal of the _United States_ to secure him the Right for bleaching paper and Rags: The process is very simple, and may be very beneficial to any persons who wish to make Writing paper of the first quality from coloured Rags. Living in the neighborhood of _Philadelphia_, he will stay in _Boston_ but a few days. If any owners of Paper Mills in this vicinity wish to obtain the right of using his Patent, they will please to call on him at Major King's Tavern, near the Market, on Saturday, Monday or Wednesday next, where he will shew samples of Paper made from coloured Rags and produce vouchers of the expense.
