Subject: Odor removal
In the latest issue of the ALAO (Association of Libraries of Ohio, or something like that) Newsletter the following appeared: "Removing musty smell from books. According to an art teacher/antiques collector, you could try one of these methods: spread cedar chips over musty books; mix potpourri with silica gel and sprinkle over and around books; or use talcum powder or baking soda and brush off when odor has disappeared. -- reprinted form SMILELETTER, Mankato, MN". While some of these measures will not harm books, it seems to me others will and all will leave some residue. What do other Cons DistLlist readers think?
