Library Development Specialist II (Conservation) Location: Albany, NY Starting Salary: $49,276 The Library Development Specialist II (Conservation) will plan, coordinate, monitor and evaluate a program to assist not only selected research libraries but also other libraries and agencies (historical societies, museums, etc.) in establishing conservation/preservation activities; review and evaluate applications submitted by libraries and other agencies for competitive grants, monitor progress of both established and competitive grants, and provide necessary technical assistance and guidance; assist, evaluate and monitor the research libraries concerning the required five-year plans; develop statewide programs in cooperation with libraries, such other state units as the State Museum and State Archives, professional library organizations, and others concerned with conservation and preservation; provide conservation/preservation advisory/consultant services to libraries throughout the state; and will coordinate with other parts of the statewide Library Development Program. Will make policy recommendations and will report to the Division Director. Minimum Qualifications: A master's degree in library science from an American Library Association (ALA) accredited college or university and five years of post-MLS experience in a library, archives or historical society. Two years of the required experience must have been in the conservation/preservation of library or archival materials.
