Subject: Preservation course syllabi
I am beginning to develop a semester-long course on the preservation of library and archives materials for the Indiana University School of Library and Information Science. This course will be aimed at library school students who are considering careers in academic libraries, special collections or archives, although it will be open to anyone interested. Conservation treatment techniques will not be taught. I would appreciate hearing from those of you who teach graduate-level courses designed to introduce the nonspecialist to preservation. It would be very helpful to me if you could mail or upload your syllabus and/or reading list. I'd also be really interested in how you handle issues of class size, assignments and evaluation. Thanks very much.
