To Sue Davis:  Rest assured that the stuff you had in your books that
made blue rings was likely from the wrapper only.  Ummm "other"
biological stuff would have formed brown stains due to the Maillard
reaction of sugars and proteins.  On the other hand, with a pH of 7.8,
brittle pages due to acidity would not be as much of a problem.
.....Some people smoke......and some people read.
