Subject: pH testing
We recently received an order of paper sold to us as "acid free" that did not bear the archival watermark. When this was questioned, I used the pH pen marketed by the Abbey newsletter to determine whether the paper was in fact alkaline. My question is this--when using the pH pen, almost any new paper tests as alkaline. How can one determine if the paper is buffered so it will stay that way? Any suggestions? Thanks! *** Conservation DistList Instance 6:34 Distributed: Sunday, January 3, 1993 Message Id: cdl-6-34-017 ***Received on Friday, 18 December, 1992
