Subject: Library preservation workshop
The Milton S. Eisenhower Library of The Johns Hopkins University with funding from the National Endowment for the Humanities will be offering ten hands-on workshops each year in basic and advanced preservation techniques. The workshops will commence June, 1993 and conclude February, 1996. The purpose of the workshops is to offer training opportunities to staff employed in mid-sized and smaller libraries, archives, and historical and genealogical societies that have established a commitment to preserving their collections. Applications from preservation practitioners whose responsibilities include hands-on care and treatment of their institution's general collections will receive preferential consideration. Workshop titles (and the number of offerings each year) are: Basic Workshop (3), Advanced Enclosures (2), Advanced Book Repair (2), Treatment of Older Collections (1), Disaster Recovery (1) and Exhibits Preparation (1). These workshops continue and expand on the successful preservation training at Johns Hopkins. Early inquiries are recommended.
