Head, Preservation Department The University of Pittsburgh is seeking a Head for its Preservation Department within the University Library System's Technical Services. This individual must provide forward-looking, strong leadership in the university and the broader community in the areas of preservation and conservation of library materials including education of their importance. S/he assesses and implements participation in national cooperative preservation programs; directs and supervises the activities of the Preservation Department including conservation repair, the brittle books program, and binding. The department head also performs conservation and preservation and related work as necessary. Identifies funding opportunities and prepares grant proposals. Qualification required: M.L.S. from an ALA accredited library school program or recognized equivalent; advanced course work in preservation administration or work experience in a preservation unit with minimum three years professional library experience; sufficient knowledge of bibliographic control concepts to direct bibliographic searching for the brittle books program and entry of records into OCLC for preservation microfilming titles. Rank and salary dependent on experience and qualifications. Minimum $30,000.
