The Association for Library Collections & Technical Services (ALCTS) and the Preservation of Library Materials Section (PLMS) would like to announce: "TAKING CHARGE: MANAGING PRESERVATION PROJECTS" A Program sponsored by ALCTS/PLMS to be presented at the ALA 1993 Annual Conference in New Orleans, Louisiana on Monday, June 28, 1993 from 2pm to 5:30pm TAKING CHARGE is a program for those individuals or institutions with little or no project experience who are interested in organizing and implementing a preservation project. The program is concerned with the broad administrative concerns of implementing a project, rather than technical aspects of preservation. Speakers will address such topics as planning and cost modeling, documentation and accountability, and coping with the impact projects may have on staff and existing preservation programs. In addition, case studies will be presented on projects as carried out at several different institutions. Question and answer opportunities will be provided during the program. Handouts, including a bibliography of literature available on the topics of project management and preservation projects, will be distributed.
