A carbomb exploded at about 1 o'clock Thursday morning outside the Uffizi. Both the Uffizi and the Palazzo Vecchio have been seriously damaged and according to the Uffizi director Anna Maria Petrioli Tofani, the museum will be closed for months. According to the AP release, "Among the paintings destroyed were Gherardo Delle Notti's "Birth of Christ" and Bartolomeo Manfredi's "Buonaventura" and "Ciclo Viti." More than 20 paintings and statues were damaged. 'Some lost arms, some lost legs,' she told reporters, but said all could be repaired."
