Subject: Library preservation workshop
Library collections are being used more heavily and book budgets are shrinking. Preservation can provide cost-effective relief. The Preservation Roundtable of the Colorado Library Association, the Mountain Plains Library Association Preservation Section and the Colorado Preservation Alliance will present the program "Picking Up the Pieces: Preservation for the Circulating Collections." The session will provide basic information about creating a preservation program, collections maintenance, and repairing circulating collections, including public library materials. All participants will be given the resources necessary, including lists of supplies, equipment, and references to help them begin or upgrade a repair program in their library. This one-day session will be held October 1, in Snowmass, Colorado as a pre-conference to the CLA/MPLA annual meeting. Nancy Shrock, conservator and consultant to Harvard University, public library systems in Massachusetts, and the Gaylord Preservation Info Help Line, will be the instructor. Cost is $55.
