METRO Conservation Forum Series: 1993-1994 METRO's (New York Metropolitan Reference and Research LIbrary Agency) Conservation/Preservation Advisory Council (CPAC) has been awarded New York State Conservation/Preservation discretionary funds to restore the region's Conservation Forum Series. The seminars will take place in the Fall 1993 - Spring 1994 academic year as a first-year stimulus to rekindle interest and participation among the regional conservation/preservation community. The series will focus on disaster preparedness and emergency realities. The seminar topics, speakers and dates are: October 14, 1993. Safety Issues and Hazardous Materials, by Monona Rossol. November 18, 1993. Chicago Historical Society's Flood Recovery, by Carol Turchan January 20, 1994. Panel on Disasters. Flooding and Resultant Mold, by Barbra Higginbotham. Shelving Collapse, by Janet Gertz. Asbestos in Bindings, by Sara Polirer and Miller Suter. March 24, 1994. Leaf Casting Process Demonstration, by Virginia Buchan and Nora Ligorano. All seminars will be held at METRO headquarters, 57E. 11th St., 4th Floor, New York, NY from 4-6 P.M., with the exception of the March Leaf Casting demonstration, which will be held at the Municipal Archives, 31 Chambers St., Suite 101 in Manhattan.
