Subject: Mass deacidification test
In response to Cathy Atwood's comment of August 3, we selected the infinity symbol to use primarily because we needed something that was not alphanumeric. Any letter or number, or even a plus sign, on the spine of a book can and will be misinterpreted by someone as part of the shelving location. The infinity symbol has at least some relevance in marking a book which has been deacidified.
