Assistant Paper Conservator The Los Angeles County Museum of Art Los Angeles, California The Conservation Center at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art is seeking to fill the position of Assistant Paper Conservator. This person will be directly involved with the day- to-day operations of the Paper Conservation Lab, working in harmony with the Senior Paper Conservator, Victoria Blyth Hill. The position will offer the opportunity of independent planning and scheduling, with responsibilities for examination and treatment of works of art on paper from ancient to modern from the Museum's comprehensive permanent collections, as well as for training of interns, students, and pertinent Museum staff. The Museum's many exhibitions and gallery rotations require significant involvement by the paper conservators for treatment, installation and travel related to these shows. Preference is for a candidate with strengths complementing those of the current staff, specifically for applicants with a strong background in book, archival and/or photograph conservation. The position will be available as of January 1, 1994. Eligibility. Candidates will be considered who have graduated from a recognized conservation training program with a specialization in paper and/or photo conservation or who are conservators with similar training and experience. The salary and position title will be commensurate with experience. Application procedure.
