Date: Tuesday, January 11, 1994
The American Library Association's Reproduction of Library Material
Section (RLMS) Discussion Group will focus its discussion at ALA's
Midwinter meeting in Los Angeles around a series of brief presentations
on interesting preservation scanning projects being conducted at various
institutions around the nation.

Winston Atkins from Yale University with discuss Yale's Project Open
Book (producing a scanned image from microfilm); John Dean from Cornell
University will discuss scanning books and producing film from the
scanned image; Sue Kellerman from Penn State will present PSU's
experiences with their scanning project and the problems and issues
surrounding access to those images; and Meg Bellinger, the new president
of Preservation Resources (formerly MAPS) will present the perspective
of a vendor working on her organization's first scanning pilot project
(scanning images from newspapers already on microfilm). There will be
time for questions and discussion with the presenters.

The RLMS Discussion Group will be held on Sunday, February 6th, 1994,
from 4:30 pm until 5:30 pm, at the Los Angeles Hilton and Towers in the
