Joint CMDS/PLMS Discussion Group Inaugural Meeting Sunday February 6, 1994 9:30-12:30 LACC 406-B Help set the agenda for enhanced cooperation between collection development and preservation by attending the first meeting of the CMDS/PLMS Discussion Group. Participants in this discussion group will explore the common ground between selection and management of collections and their preservation with an emphasis on the challenge of national preservation planning. The inaugural meeting will fashion an agenda for the discussion group and plan the format and substance of future sessions. Part I: 9:30-10:30 Converging imperatives: fashioning an agenda for cooperation. Janet E. Gertz, Chair of PLMS, and Connie K. McCarthy, Chair of CMDS will present issues and concerns of mutual interest for group discussion. Part II: 10:30-12:00 National preservation planning initiatives and needs. Presentation of selected examples for discussion: Chicago Planning Conference; Preserving the literature of disciplines: examples from agriculture (Sam Demas, Cornell); Preserving scientific literature: needs and prospects (Jennifer Banks, MIT).
