Subject: Asbestos removal hazards
We just found out that the library where I work at is being closed on weekends for several weeks to do ductwork and remove asbestos. My question is should I be worried about covering exposed collections and computers on the weekends to protect from dust or other problems (like accidental leaks for example.) I am working like a dog to get the manuscript collections that are presently being stored in open areas into the archives (where there is compact shelving and some protection) but there are over flow storage areas for books, material waiting to be microfilmed and so on that are on tables, open shelves and so on. Am I just being paranoid or given my knowledge of disasters waiting to happen should I be gathering plastic sheeting or other covering. Please respond privately at the address listed below. My apologies to those of you who will see this message twice. Danna C.
