Subject: Floor wax on books
The company we hired to do the floors in the main collection sloshed floor wax so enthusiastically that in places it splashed five feet off the floor. Thousands of books ended up with big white splashes on the cover. The wax used was Spartan's On An' On. It is water-soluble, so we rinsed the books and the wax is, in general, no longer visible. According to the MSDS, it is 7% diethylene glycol monoethyl ether. I would appreciate an informed opinion on any long-term affect on the materials. Thanks.
