The following is the text of a resolution passed by the Preservation of Library Materials Section of the American Library Association. Resolution of Thanks Honoring Walter A. Henry Whereas, Walter A. Henry is a trailblazer in the field of conservation and preservation for initiating, developing, and moderating electronic services, and for his commitment to developing a dialogue between library conservators and the larger preservation community; and Whereas, he established the Conservation DistList in 1987, the second oldest library-oriented list in the United States, as a moderated digest about conservation which serves as a forum for sharing technical information, news, and queries, and which has grown to include more than 850 subscribers from at least thirteen countries; and Whereas, he developed Conservation OnLine, a collection of full-text databases covering a wide variety of conservation and preservation issues which utilizes Wide Area Information Server technology to provide quick access to information from anywhere on the Internet; now therefore be it Resolved, That the Preservation of Library Materials Section of the Association for Library Collections and Technical Services does honor Walter A. Henry for the lasting contributions he has made to libraries and to conservation and preservation internationally; and be it Resolved, That copies of this resolution be sent to the Director of the Stanford University Libraries and other appropriate places.
