Subject: Western Museum Association Pre-conference session
The Bishop Museum, in conjunction with the Western Museum Association, is sponsoring a pre-conference session entitled "Cultural Considerations in the Collection Care And Conservation of Ethnographic Objects/Organic Materials." The pre-conference will be held 21 September, 1994, in Honolulu, Hawaii. We are interested in people who could give talks and participate in a panel discussion on any of the following topics: 1. The importance of preventative conservation. 2. Examples of cultural and ethnographic considerations in specific conservation treatments. 3. Examples of solutions to the storage needs of a variety of objects. 4. Public access vs. conservation considerations. 5. An example or examples of collaboration between a representative of a local cultural group and a conservator responsible for the preservation of their cultural artifacts.
