The IIC has applied to the Getty Grant Program for funding to offer a
limited number of bursaries to conservation professionals from
developing countries in Central and South America and the Caribbean,
Africa, Asia, Oceania, the countries of Eastern Europe, and the former
Soviet Union to attend the 15th International Congress of IIC.  Funding
is not yet confirmed.

Applicants must be qualified conservation professionals with a minimum
of five years' experience in the field, and must be currently employed
in the profession in a leadership, training, or decision making
position.

Applicants must submit the following information to the address below
BEFORE JUNE 1, 1994:

*   name, complete address, telephone numbers (day and evening), and fax
    number

*   curriculum vitae indicating training, work experience, and current
    work responsibilities (maximum 500 words)

*   short statement (maximum 250 words) indicating what the applicant
    hopes to gain from the conference, how the information will be
    applied in his/her work, and how the applicant will share this
    experience with his/her colleagues

*   letters of support from two referees

*   statement (maximum 200 words) outlining financial need and other
    sources of financial assistance available to attend the conference.
    If no other funds are available, please provide a sworn statement or
    a letter from the employer to this effect. (NOTE:  Bursaries may
    cover all or part of costs related to a round trip economy airfare
    between the commercial airport nearest to the home city and Ottawa,
    hotel, food, and ground transportation in Canada.  In some cases,
    applicants may be required to pay conference fees: CAN$310)

Maximum length of application: 7 pages

Applications will be evaluated by a Selection Committee.
Applicants will be informed of the Committee's decision by mid-July.  If
applicable, the bursary recipient may be required to pay the
registration fee, within 10 days of notification of the approval of a
bursary.
