Subject: ALCTS film presentation schedule correction
There have been discrepancies in the some of the schedules that I've seen regarding the exact title, location, and length of the "Film To File" program at ALA Annual in Miami. What follows is the correct information. Title: "Film to File and Back Again" (formerly "Film to File: Moving from Microfilm to Electronic Formats" Location: Miami Beach Convention Center - D233 and D234 Time: 9 am-11 am Sponsored by the ALCTS Preservation Microfilming Committee Co-sponsors: RLMS Electronic Imaging Technologies Committee and LITA Optical Systems Interest Group This program explores concerns raised when converting microfilm to digital files and reformatting digital files to microfilm. Issues related to hybrid systems incorporating film and digital technologies, quality control, and standards are examined. A fuller understanding of the critical requirements that must be met as we move to the next generation of reformatting technologies will be gained. Moderator: Pamela Mason National Agricultural Library Speakers and topics: Meg Bellinger President, Preservation Resources Topic: Film quality issues related to producing "scannable" film. Dan Arbour Vice President of Advanced Information Products, University Microfilms International Topic: Film quality issues related to the production of microfilm from scanned images. Bill Neale Manager of Development Products, First Image Management Company Topic: Standards issues related to the conversion of microfilm to digital files. Please spread the word to your colleagues about the correct title, location and time of the program. The final program *may* list the time as 9:30 a.m.-11 a.m. That is *not* correct. *** Conservation DistList Instance 7:85 Distributed: Wednesday, May 25, 1994 Message Id: cdl-7-85-008 ***Received on Monday, 23 May, 1994
