Subject: Preservation microfilming conference proceedings
The National Preservation Office at the National Library of Australia recently conducted its first national conference. The title of the conference of the conference was 'preservation microfilming: does it have a future?'. The resounding reply was "yes!'. The program of the conference included keynote addresses by Anne Kenney of Cornell University Library and Ralph Manning of the National Library of Canada. The main topics addressed included approaches to microfilming in different types of organisations, new technologies, key issues and perspectives. The National Preservation Office has begun work on producing the conference proceedings and resolutions. They should be published later this year and will be available for a reasonable cost. Soon it will be necessary to determine the size of the print run, and we are now calling for expressions of interest in purchasing a copy of this publication when it becomes available. If you are interested please forward me an e-mail message including your *full* postal details. Please forward this message to any other of your colleagues that you think might be interested.
