Subject: AMW oversewing machine
For general periodical binding we use an AMW oversewer which has given sterling service over the years. Does anyone else use this machine? If so have you had any problems with it or any tips to pass on in the way of modifications? Who supplies your needles/punches and spare parts? (is it easy to order directly from the factory). I ask these questions as one of our main castings (the yoke) on the machine recently broke leaving us with the choice of a hefty bill to repair the part, or an even heftier bill for replacing the broken part with a new one. I stress that the machine has given good service over the years but some parts are also starting to wear and I would like to find a more direct (cheaper?) supplier of these parts than using the current English importer. (for those who don't know the machine was made by AMW Corp., Arlington, Mass.) Any experiences shared will be greatly received, thanks.
