From the posting below, it would appear they are interested in insect exclusion from the materials, as well as possibly eliminating a musty odor. Although I am not a subscriber to LIBADMIN@UMAB or LIBTECH, our discussion list on Pestcon, primarily entomologists, facility managers and pest control operators, would enjoy any opportunity to hear the point of view of library folks and any related stories or information you may have concerning insects or other biological issues related to archive and library materials. This will help us look at the issue from the perspective of the "customer" or end-user. (Forwarded message) I am seeking help from northern CA listers who might be familiar with fumigation of library materials. University Archives has 60-70 boxes of year books, etc., currently palletized (2 pallets), shrink- wrapped and stored in a warehouse on campus. Material must be fumigated before we bring it into Library for processing. It also smells musty. Would appreciate suggestions from others who might have had past experience; also names if there are specialized services available. None listed in Sacramento yellow pages or in my limited collection of conservator sources, etc. Please send any responses to: Pestcon [at] uiowa__edu Since the subscribers of PESTCON are probably not subscribed to LIBADMIN or LIBTECH, sending a new message to only those lists will not reach us. Thank you very much for any insight you may add to our discussion. Sorry to intrude unsolicited to your list.
