Subject: Whiteout for labelling archaeological artifacts
There has been an interesting discussion thread on Museum-L in recent weeks concerning the use of Whiteout for labelling archaeological artifacts. The thread is to long to reproduce here--and I assume that all the conservators on the DistList and anyone involved with archaeological materials is also reading Museum-l (if you're not you really ought to), but this thread is of more than specialist interest as it has evolved into a discussion about the way information is shared across/between disciplines. Therefore, I suggest that even those without a particular interest in whiteout and archaeological conservation check out the Museum-L archives. (Note: there may be a delay before some of this material finds its way into the archives). Gopher to gopher.berkeley.edu and select Museums/ Museum of Paleontology/ Mailing lists Museum Listserver Archive Search the Museum Listserver Archiver (NB Don't select the other option "Museum Listserver Archiver", it's a 3.5 megabyte file). or via WWW at URL: gopher://ucmp1.Berkeley.EDU:70/11/MLists/museuml (Of course you can also reach the archives via CoOL) Walter *** Conservation DistList Instance 8:17 Distributed: Thursday, September 1, 1994 Message Id: cdl-8-17-018 ***Received on Thursday, 1 September, 1994
