Subject: New books on photographic processes
New books Many people on this list are familiar with my _Encyclopedia of Printing, Photographic, and Photomechanical Processes_, which has been out of print for some time. The original work appeared as a two-volume set in 1989-1990. At the request of many conservators who would like to have their own copy, there has been a new, less expensive one-volume reprint made available. Those interested can contact me at the address below for more information. Also of interest to many people in the conservation field, is the new, completely revised (3rd) edition of _History and Practice of Platinum Printing_. This updated edition, about twice as large as the previous work, has new historical information, including dates of availability of all 26 different types of platinotype papers Kodak ever made, as well as new information from theses from France and England, regarding the conservation and restoration of platinotypes. Also included in the first few hundred copies of this book, is a tipped-in specimen of a platinum/palladium print (photo and print by Robert J. Steinberg), made from an internegative produced by a scanner and an Iris ink jet printer. Those who want the print should reserve a copy by e-mail to the author ASAP. The price of this book is US$40.
