Subject: Remote storage
Regarding information about preservation issues and remote storage facilities, the New York State Education Department put out an Environmental Controls Resource Packet a couple of years ago. It includes, among other things, "Conservation Environment Guidelines for Libraries and Archives" by William P. Lull and "Hold Everything! A Storage and Housing Information Sourcebook for Libraries and Archives", compiled by Metro, the New York Metropolitan Reference and Research Agency. Although some of the information is N.Y. State-specific, there is a lot of good general information in both these books. I don't know if the packet and/or the books are still available. I would hope so! The address is University of the State of New York State Education Department New York State Library Division of Library Development Albany, NY 12230. If you are up to dealing with an address that long, you might want to request at least a copy of the Lull book, which I have found very useful.
