Subject: Electrodeless sulfur lamp
A client/colleague has sent me a news service item about an "electrodeless sulfur lamp," purportedly a new light source patented and in development by Fusion Lighting, Inc. in Rockville, MD. It's apparently used in conjunction with light pipes to produce increased light with less energy, at less installation cost. On top of that, it cuts UV emission in half (half of what is not explained). This system is not yet actually available commercially. Apparently the lamp has no internal filament and "no wires connected to the bulb." I recently saw a TV segment on a radio-signal controlled lamp--could this be related? Does anybody have any knowledge about these technologies?
