Food and drink in the library

Duke Law Library initiated a new drink policy a couple of years ago
whereby patrons are allowed to have beverages in spill proof containers.
Enforcing our previous no-drink policy was extremely difficult with
canned drink machines in the building and 24 hour access for law
students.  Our experience so far is that most patrons abide by the
policy.  For the occasional patron who does not, it is much easier to
ask them to take the beverage out if you can also say that they may
return with it in a covered container.  Spill proof cups with the law
school name and insignia are available for purchase at the student snack
bar.
