Subject: Bronze-coated iron outdoor sculpture
I am replying to Sarah-Jane Rennie's question about bronze coated cast iron sculpture. We have recently been contacted by a museum that owns a contemporary brass coated steel sculpture. Is that close enough? The brass was braized onto the surface. We are currently figuring out what to do, which includes removal of iron corrosion, replacing elements, straightening elements, filling bullet holes (this is downtown Los Angeles), and most importantly, coating. No answers yet, but if this is anything close to what you are working on, lets talk! Anyone else have ideas? The artist is Bertoia. Glenn Wharton Wharton & Griswold Assoc.
