Preservation Film Festival

Spend an evening at the movies and see the stars of preservation
stage and screen.  Join the ALCTS Preservation and Reformatting
Section Education Committee at  "Two Thumbs Up: Preservation Film
Festival," Sunday, June 25, 1995, 7-10 p.m. at the Hyatt Regency
Gold Coast Room.

Films have been selected to appeal to a general audience.  They can
be used in training staff or volunteers and in sensitizing library
boards and friends groups.  Preservation folks will be in the
audience to clarify and answer any questions about information
presented in the videos.

Films will be shown at these approximate times:

    Disaster Preparedness,  7:00-7:35 p.m.
        Library & Archival Disaster Preparedness & Recovery, 21 min.
        Inside Track to Disaster Recovery, 14 min.

    Basic Education for Staff and Patrons, 7:35-8:25 p.m.
        Handling Books in General Collections (video version of
        slide/tape), 10 min.
        Murder in the Stacks,  15 min.
        Handle with Care,  4 min.
        School Citizenship Series: Use & Care of Books,  13 min.

    Environment/Storage/Exhibits,  8:25-9:15 p.m.
        Basic Preservation for Libraries & Archives: Storage and
        Handling 13 min.
        Basic Preservation for Libraries & Archives: Environmental
        Controls Partial showing only.
        Paperworks: Stabilizing Archival collections. Partial
        showing only.
        Shedding the Light on the Case, 18 min.

    Binding and Book Repair, 9:15-9:45 p.m.

        Library Binding: A Shared Responsibility, a Collaborative
        Process 26 min.
        Basic Book Repair and Other Materials:  Simple Techniques.
        Partial showing only.

    Educating Friends, 9:45-10 p.m.
        Materials at Risk: The Preservation Challenge, 10 min.
        Slow Fires.  Partial showing only.

There will be drawings for prizes throughout the evening, but you
must be present to win!  Popcorn provided.
