Subject: Digital imaging
In reply to Bas van Velzen's posting for his colleague: yes, research has been done comparing digital and analog duplication of negatives, as well as print materials. The people to contact on this topic are Steven Puglia at the National Archives and Records Administration in Washington, D.C., and James Reilly at the Image Permanence Institute. Jim gave a presentation on this topic at both the AIC's Photographic Materials Group 1995 Winter Meeting (held in D.C.), and at the IS&T's (Society for Imaging Science and Technology)'s 48th Annual Meeting. His presentation is included in the final program and proceedings for that conference.
