Subject: Fumigation
What, if indeed one should, should one recommend to the untrained custodian with poor resources (ie no extraction facilities) to use for fumigating books and papers. Can anyone recommend products that would be available without the custodian requiring a permit or license to acquire them. Many of the fumigants people used to recommend are now viewed as toxic or as having adverse health and safety effects. A little knowledge its true can be a bad thing but all too often one hears of untrained persons whom have taken action into their own hands with disastrous consequences for the artifact and to themselves sometimes. Has anyone any book titles suggestions covering easy to perform fumigation techniques.
