Subject: New WWW journal and Call for Papers
I would like to announce that the "Journal of Conservation and Museum Studies," published under the auspices of the Department of Conservation and Museum Studies, Institute of Archaeology, University College London, will publish its first issue on the World Wide Web early in the coming year. This journal has been created to serve as an academic World Wide Web publication, disseminating conservation information to the global conservation community. The papers and articles found in the Journal will represent the work of conservation students from around the world. The Journal will be run by an editorial board of faculty and students at the Institute of Archaeology, University College London. As a WWW publication, images, tables, and graphs will be incorporated into the text of papers. More information will be announced in this forum as the publication date approaches. Meanwhile, students in conservation or museum studies programs around the world are invited to propose papers for publication. Students are expected to submit their papers to their own head of department (or delegated member of staff), who will then be identified as referee for the paper. Papers should be submitted to the Journal by this head of department. We are in the process of sending more specific information to conservation and museum studies departments. Please contact us if you need further information. Papers should focus on either issues and techniques in conservation, or the varied aspects of museums studies and collection care. Guidelines for authors are available upon request. The language of the journal will be English. Papers should be submitted by 15 February 1996 to: Alan J.
