The Campbell Center for Historic Preservation Studies, Mount
Carroll, Illinois, is again offering a four-day course on the Care
of Oversize and Unusual Paper Artifacts. The course will take place
July 24-27, 1996, at the Campbell Center in Illinois. It will
address the care, handling and storage of oversize and unusual
materials including maps, posters, architectural plans, globes and
wallpapers. The instructor will be Mary Todd Glaser, Director of
Paper Conservation at the Northeast Document Conservation Center.

The course includes a review of materials, media and mechanisms for
deterioration; storage options; handling, including unrolling of
brittle papers; and hands-on training in flattening, surface
cleaning, paper repair and polyester film encapsulation.

The course fee is $500, which includes accommodations. NEH
scholarships, which reduce the course cost by half, are available
for employees of non-profit institutions.
