Subject: Position at National Museum of Natural History
The Anthropology Department, National Museum of Natural History, Smithsonian, is planning a two year project to research the history and composition of Chinese papers, and also to preserve its Chinese paper-based collections. The project would require a paper conservator to survey, treat, and re-house the collection. The project will also include a literature survey on techniques of Chinese paper-making; characterization of Chinese specialty papers using analytical techniques; and development of a finder's guide for the collection. This is a one year position which may be renewed for a second year pending approvals.
