Preservation of newspapers

Neschen GmbH makes a heat set tissue called filmoplast R that has
been used to preserve brittle papers including newspaper.  Picture
framers have had success applying a single layer of this material to
the back side of the newspaper providing a physical support that
prevents further disintegration while preserving "the look" of the
old paper. The material is widely available from conservation supply
houses here in the States and technical information including the
adhesive and paper composition can be had by contacting me at the
