Preventive conservation

We are postgraduate students on an MA course in the conservation of
fine art at the University of Northumbria at Newcastle, England.  We
are required to present a seminar in April 1998 on benign systems
used in preventive conservation for protecting objects from
deterioration. For example, the use of certain woods which act as
insecticides or essential oils for preservation purposes.  Any
information on this topic or any recommended primary sources would
be greatly appreciated.
