Subject: Paper coated with red lead
There was an excellent article in the New Yorker magazine a number of years ago, one in the Annals of Medicine series, that described the near-fatal effects of red lead poisoning on a conservator who was working with a red powdered pigment that had been cut with red lead. I wonder if anyone remembers more about it.
