Book Repairer (Bindery Worker II) University Libraries University of Nebraska-Lincoln Serials Dept., Binding Section Reports to Sheila Orth, Head of Binding Duties: Repair books for the Libraries' general collections, including: Japanese paper and paste mending, heat set tissue repairs, supported and unsupported sewing structures, cloth spine repairs, and other preservationally-sound techniques appropriate for books of different historical periods. Construct boxes and other protective enclosures. Establish treatment specifications, determine appropriate method of treatment for general collections, and assist in treatment of Special collections materials. Maintain Jacques board shear, guillotine cutter, and specialized tools for book repair. Maintain inventory of supplies. Train staff and students in book repair techniques. Interact with all Library departments on needs and processes. Participate in special projects on request. Qualifications: High School diploma or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired is necessary. Three years of bindery or book repair experience or equivalency required; year-for-year post-secondary education may be substituted for bindery experience. Preferred: good oral and written communication skills; computer experience. Salary: $8.553/hour.
