Subject: Barrier materials

Please respond directly to sender and if of general interest post it here as well I've been researching and discussing polyvinyl acetate varnish film used by us in cataloguing ethnographic artifacts. Are there other products that work as well or better than this? It seems to be reversible if it is applied in a form that tends to adhere to but not penetrate too deeply into woven objects. Porous materials like baskets are subject to absorbing quite a lot of the varnish in its dilute form. Can you give me some advice or suggest some one who can?
