For general monitoring of exhibit and storage spaces, I prefer the Veriteq loggers and their requisite software. Granted I was using the ACR products a few years ago, so they may have engineered away some of the bugs I encountered. The ACR allows for the use of external probes, which the Veriteq logger does not, so if you're into the whole probe thing, the Veriteq will not be for you. The Spectrum software that is packaged with the Veriteq loggers does some nice data manipulation and is very easy to export to Excel. One of the annoying things about the ACR Trendreader software is that it puts the logger serial number into the same column as the monitoring data when exported, so you need to work around that when writing statistical analysis programs. Another option are the Hobo loggers marketed by Onset corporation. They cost considerably less (about the cost of an ACR probe!), so that you can employ many of them at a considerably lower cost than either the ACR or the Veriteq. They advertise an RH accuracy of +/- 3%, comparable to the Smartreader Plus line of loggers. *** Conservation DistList Instance 12:12 Distributed: Friday, July 24, 1998 Message Id: cdl-12-12-008 ***Received on Tuesday, 21 July, 1998
