BA and MA Courses in Conservation

Camberwell College of Arts (The London Institute) is currently
recruiting for its BA (Hons) and MA courses in the conservation of
Paper and Organic materials.

These courses are run by the Conservation Centre, which maintains an
outstanding international reputation in the field of conservation of
Fine Art on Paper and related materials. The excellence of its work,
spanning the past twenty-five years was acknowledged in 1996 with
the Queen's Anniversary Prize.

Degree and Postgraduate Courses

BA (Hons) Conservation
3 years full time

This courses provides a broad-based programme of practical and
theoretical work in preparation for specialisation in the
conservation of Art on Paper, Prints, Drawings, Photographs, Books,
Library and Archive Materials, Textiles and Ethnographic Objects.
The course is supported by a wide range of studies in science and
the history of art and technology.

MA Conservation
1 or 2 years full time

Designed for those who already have a degree in conservation, or a
related subject, the MA course provides an intensive high-level
education in specialist areas of conservation including: Fine Art on
Paper, Library and Archive Materials, Books and Photographs. The
course includes in-depth studies in conservation science, with
ethical, technical, historical and managerial considerations.

The MA Course in Conservation is forging firm links with other MA
courses at Camberwell: Book Arts, Printmaking, Drawing and Ceramics
all play an interactive role in the culture of Higher Education at
Camberwell.
